Former Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka is being lined up for a move to his hometown club Alaves, amid continued links with Leeds United.
The Spaniard was sacked by Boro in March having steered them to the Premier League and the last-eight of the FA Cup.
The 43-year-old former Real Madrid defender has since been linked with a number of new jobs, with Leeds said to be an option.
The Elland Road club are without a manager since the departure of Garry Monk last month and it has been suggested that they were impressed with Karanka's tenure at Middlesbrough.
