Middlesbrough have sacked manager Garry Monk despite Saturday's comeback victory at Sheffield Wednesday.
Boro's promotion charge has stuttered recently and the board decided to act just days before Christmas.
A statement said: 'Middlesbrough Football Club have parted company with manager Garry Monk.'
