Defensive rock Ben Gibson helps Middlesbrough to second league win

Middlesbrough worked brilliantly as a unit on a night that saw them hold their nerves to pick up only their second win of the season against a struggling Hull City. Tenacious in defence and full of ideas in attack, it took Gaston Ramirez' 60th-minute header from a looping corner to make the difference in this battle at the bottom of the Premier League.

Positives

The home side created plenty on Monday, made good use of the ball and span up lots of positive moves, but ultimately with little end product. Ramirez ran riot in Hull's half and dictated the tone for the majority of the match, one where Boro looked comfortable and unlikely to be challenged by a lacklustre Hull team.
