Counter-terror officers are probing a gruesome double stabbing that left one man dead and another seriously injured.
One man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder after the attack at a hotel in Hartlepool, near Middlesbrough, just before 6am this morning.
A 44-year-old remains in custody and cordons remain in place across several roads in the Tees Street area of the town, with a search at a property ongoing.
The second victim remains in hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: 'Due to initial inquiries into the circumstances of the incident, Cleveland Police are working with Counter Terrorism Policing North East on the investigation.
