Jordan Rhodes has joined Sheffield Wednesday after the English Football League approved his move from Middlesbrough.
The striker will spend the remainder of the season on loan before completing a permanent switch in the summer, for a fee of around £10million.
The move was agreed on Tuesday but all the parties involved had to play a waiting game to find out whether the paperwork had gone through before the 11pm deadline.
An EFL spokesman said: "The EFL is now satisfied that the relevant documents in relation to the transfer of Jordan Rhodes from Middlesbrough to Sheffield Wednesday were sent prior to the expiry of the deadline, thereby allowing the EFL to accept the registration and the transfer of the player.
