Burnley 3-1 Middlesbrough: Manuel Benson scores twice for Championship leaders

Manuel Benson scored twice as Burnley came from behind to beat Middlesbrough and extend their lead at the top of the Championship to six points.

The Clarets winger had gifted Middlesbrough the lead with a bad mistake early in the second half, as Boro sought to take their unbeaten run under new manager Michael Carrick to five games.

Benson absent-mindedly volleyed the ball back towards his own goal as he sought to keep it in play on the halfway line but only succeeded in sending away half-time substitute Duncan Watmore for a well-taken finish.

The Belgium Under-21 winger made up for his error with two goals in seven minutes, cutting inside to beat Zack Steffen at his near post and then drifting in a cross which the Boro keeper, distracted by two attackers, allowed to drop in off the far post.
