Boro's bleak outlook unimproved after Burnley stalemate as relegation looms

This is a modal window.

Middlesbrough failed to ease their relegation worries after a goalless draw with Burnley.

Middlesbrough were unable to forge a way past a resolute Burnley in their desperate hunt for three points that could have reignited a Premier League survival push. Alvaro Negredo saw a stunning volley saved well by Tom Heaton before Stewart Downing's close-range free kick deflected off the line in the 0-0 draw.

Steve Agnew may rightly feel that Michael Keane should have been given his marching orders for a last-ditch foul on Patrick Bamford, but the discontent rang loud around the Riverside as referee Martin Atkinson only showed a yellow card.
