STATESBORO, Ga. — Markus Varjun capped a strong start to the spring with his best round of Georgia Southern's Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate on Monday. The Estonian redshirt freshman carded a 70 (-2) in the third round to finish fifth with a 54-hole score of 213 (-3). Luke Perkins finished the 61-man tournament in a tie for 17th, and Tate Heintzelman finished 53rd.
On a second straight sunny day with temperatures in the mid-60s, Varjun picked up six birdies and an eagle, including a five-hole stretch that saw him go 5-under on holes 7-11.
