MUFREESBORO, Tenn. – Going into the season, Middle Tennessee head coach Kermit Davis knew what he was going to get from a talented cast of guards. His frontcourt, though, had a few questions that needed answering.
With the loss of Reggie Upshaw and JaCorey Williams from last year's NCAA Tournament Round of 32 team, the Blue Raiders were tasked at finding replacements in the starting lineup at power forward and center. That would be no easy task, figuring Upshaw left in the program's top 10 in 10 different statistical categories, including first in all-time wins, games played and games started, and Williams scored the second-most points (621) in MT single-season history on his way to being named Conference USA Player of the Year.
