MURFREESBORO – Middle Tennessee redshirt freshman Jakobe Thomas was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after helping lead the Blue Raiders to a 33-28 win over FIU. It was the first honor of Thomas' young career. The C-USA honor is presented by Blenders Eyewear.
Thomas, from nearby Tullahoma, Tenn., had five tackles against the Panthers to go along with two timely interceptions. With just under three minutes to play and FIU facing a 3rd and 5, Thomas stepped in front of a pass and went untouched 28 yards into the endzone to give the Blue Raiders the lead for good.
