DALLAS - The PwC SMU Athletic Forum released today the preseason candidates for the 2018 Doak Walker Award and Middle Tennessee's Tavares Thomas made the list. The Forum annually presents the award to the nation's top college running back.
Thomas, a rising senior from Rosenberg, TX, led the Blue Raiders in rushing and rushing touchdowns in 2017 after making the move from linebacker to running back in week six. Thomas rushed for 507 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 5.5 yards a carry. He had a 195-yard rushing day to go with two scores in a win over Charlotte.
