SMYRNA -- Starting Friday's game with a 76-yard kickoff return and 1-yard touchdown run, Stewarts Creek served notice that last week's blowout loss would not define their season.
The Red Hawks used a balanced running game -- scoring one touchdown per quarter -- and swarming defense for a 28-8 region win over visiting Antioch to improve to 1-1.
Stewarts Creek lost 43-2 on the road against Siegel last Friday, but Red Hawks coach David Martin said his team was determined to put that behind them.
"The credit goes to these young men -- they came out with some energy tonight, some emotion and played with great effort," Martin said.
