SMYRNA -- Stewarts Creek's girls took another step toward the school's first state basketball tournament berth with an impressive 53-25 win over district 8-AAA tournament champion Shelbyville in the Region 4-AAA semifinals at Siegel on Monday night.
"We played Shelbyville in late November right after Thanksgiving and I think they've really improved," said Stewarts Creek coach Lindy King. "So we really buckled down and our girls really bought into our game plan. We got out on their threes. They've hit a ton of three pointers in the last few games and I think we did a good job understanding their offense.
