Stewarts Creek baseball team fell just short on its quest for a state title as the Red Hawks were defeated 5-3 by the Brentwood Friday in the AAA state championship game at MTSU.
With back-to-back state tournament appearances and the first state runner-up finish in the school's history, Stewarts Creek had quite a résumé for school in just its fourth year with its first group of four year seniors.
"We recognized their ability early on," said Stewarts Creek coach Mike Bartlett. "After the very first tryout I told my other coaches that this group would be special.
