MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee softball dropped the rubber match against Florida Atlantic in heartbreaking fashion on Sunday, losing in 12 innings after a 12th inning solo home run gave the a 3-2 lead late at Blue Raider Softball Field.
The Blue Raiders (24-10, 5-4 C-USA) held a one-run lead, 2-1, going into the top of the seventh after an inside-the-park home run off the bat of Laura Mealer in the bottom of the sixth, but the Owls (22-14, 5-4 C-USA) rallied, doubling with two outs and scoring on a single the very next batter to tie the game.
