The Riverdale Lady Warriors pulled out the victory over the Houston Mustangs, 75-69, on Tuesday night in a back-and-forth matchup that featured a guard duel between the Lady Warriors' Anastasia Hayes and the Mustangs' Jaida Roper.
The State Farm Classic game started off with both teams beginning strong, with the Lady Warriors getting hot from 3-point range. Guard Jalyn Holcomb hit from deep and forward Allison Mayeux connected on a buzzer-beater to give Riverdale a 19-13 lead.
Forward Alexis Whittington connected on two 3-pointers in the first quarter and finished with 15 points.
"Our game plan is just transition, if we have a wide open 3 or something we're going to take it, or we're going to penetrate," Whittington said.
