MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — It was hard to tell old Ohio Valley Conference rivals Middle Tennessee and Tennessee State hadn't played in 21 years when they met Saturday in Murfreesboro.
A well-fought affair ended with the Blue Raiders' first win of the season (1-1), 45-26, though the underdog FCS Tigers (1-1) kept things close all night in true rivalry fashion.
"I'm proud of our team," MT head coach Rick Stockstill said. "It was a great win, and I'm happy that we won. We didn't play at times as good as we would have liked to have played, so we have to get better.
