DALLAS – Senior Benjamin Onyekwelu took home Conference USA Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors for his incredible display during the Vanderbilt Invitational. This is the team's first weekly honor of the season.
Onyekwelu, a Anamber, Nigeria native, participated in one event in Nashville over the weekend due to overlapping times of events. During his one event, long jump, Onyekwelu went on to set his new personal best of 7.71m (25'3.5') on his second to last attempt. The Blue Raider took first place in a field of 13 participants.
Onyekwelu's jump ranks seventh in the nation through the first few weeks of indoor competition and is 35 spots ahead of the next Conference USA athlete.
