In an exciting boys game, Oakland pulled off a tight 56-49 win over Stewarts Creek on Friday night at Randy King Gymnasium.
In a wild fourth period Stewarts Creek scored first to take a 39-32 lead, the biggest of the game for either team. However, Oakland then went on a 15 15-1 to take a seven-point advantage of its own, 47-40.
"Our press became effective at the right time," said Oakland coach Troy Bond. "We got a lot of big turnovers, and we had called timeout and talked about our offense, how we wanted to spread out and attack the basket and get in the gaps to make them over-cover.
