MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The first kickoff of the 2022-23 athletic season here at Middle Tennessee came not from Johnny "Red" Floyd Stadium, but, per usual, from Dean A. Hayes Track & Soccer Stadium, where MT Soccer got the athletic year officially underway on Sunday with its Blue-White scrimmage.
Fans who braved the lightning in the area yesterday afternoon were treated to two sublime goals from freshman forward Emma Pettersen, who's brace led the Blue Team to a 2-0 victory and bragging rights on the practice field as MT continues with its preseason work.
Pettersen, who joined the Blue Raiders from Kristiansand, Norway, was assisted by junior midfield Elanor Gough on her first goal, with the Milton Keans, England native providing the perfect cross goal pass to open up the scoring.
