MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Across 103 plays on Saturday under the bright sun in Floyd Stadium, MTSU football got better in its first scrimmage of the season.
Early scrimmages give Rick Stockstill and his staff a plethora of opportunities to evaluate players across their roster, as reps were split evenly between the first, second and third teams throughout the morning. The action on the field was pretty even too, with the offense taking advantage of a few busted coverages for easy touchdowns, while the defense racked up 17 tackles for a loss and five sacks amid a relentless blitz.
