MTSU's Mathers makes most of senior season

I'Tavius Mathers wanted to make a difference when he bypassed his final year of eligibility at Ole Miss and transferred to MTSU.

After sitting out last season, the former Blackman High star and Mr. Football Award winner has done just that.

Going into Saturday's Hawaii Bowl against the host Rainbow Warriors, Mathers has rushed for a school-record 1,504 yards and 16 touchdowns and is second on the team with 62 receptions for 589 yards and three scores.

"I'm just looking forward to the whole bowl atmosphere," Mathers said. Like coach (Rick) Stockstill said, many of us don't get the chance to go see nice places like this, so I'll take lots of pictures and send them to my family.
