MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The cold weather Wednesday cooled off Middle Tennessee's bats against Belmont until it was too little, too late.
With their Nashville neighbor visiting Reese Smith Jr. Field, the Blue Raiders (5-7) couldn't score until the bottom of the ninth, when they pushed four runs across before falling 5-4 to the Bruins (5-7).
"Belmont's pitchers kept us off balance … but I'm proud of our guys for fighting back," MT head coach Jim Toman said. "The problem was we didn't play very good defense … even though our pitchers kept us in the game for most of it.
