MTCS captured its first victory of the season in convincing fashion with a 44-6 victory over Cass-Midway at home Friday night.
Midway traveled nine hours from Cleveland, Missouri, to face Kemari McGowan and Cougars. McGowan followed up a great freshman campaign with a 196-yard performance on 17 carries for two scores.
After first-drive jitters were surpassed, the Cougars offense began rolling, scoring on four consecutive drives before the half. McGowan found the end zone first with a 1-yard carry and followed it up with a 2-point conversion.
Drew Berry forced a turnover on the next defensive drive for the Cougars, later finding the end zone on a 7-yard touchdown of his own.
