Middle Tennessee Christian took its youth-powered offense out for a short test spin Friday night, outscoring visiting Eagleville 6-0 in one quarter of play.
The teams were scheduled to play two quarters as part of a four-team jamboree. But Zion Christian Academy did not participate due to a misunderstanding that the event was canceled, MTCS coach Fred Shambaugh said.
So after one quarter against the Eagles, the Cougars held a short practice while Eagleville and Ezell-Harding played. Shambaugh said because Ezell-Harding is a district opponent in Division II, class A, they didn't play them Friday night.
The Cougars are led by sophomores in two key offensive positions -- Jackson Green at quarterback and Kemari McGowan at running back.
