MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Pitching has been a big part of Middle Tennessee baseball's conversation throughout the offseason.
The Blue Raiders backed their claim of an improved pitching staff, at least for Friday's opener, as three pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout to lead Middle Tennessee to a 2-0 win against Western Illinois in the season opener at Reese Smith Jr. Field.
Starting pitcher Jake Wyrick and relief pitchers Carson Lester and Drew Huff dominated the Fighting Leathernecks hitters, to help lead the Blue Raiders to their first shutout since March 3, 2017.
