MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — A couple of good starts on the mound weren't enough to get a win for the Middle Tennessee baseball team in a Saturday doubleheader.
The Blue Raiders (8-5, C-USA 0-0) and Valparaiso (3-6, Missouri Valley 0-0) played a pair of planned 7-inning games, the middle two of a four-game weekend series. The Crusaders took the first 5-0 then closed out the night with a 3-2 victory in eight innings.
Middle Tennessee will try to secure the series split Sunday. First pitch at Reese Smith Jr. Field is scheduled for 1 p.m.
"When you play a doubleheader and only get three total hits, you aren't going to win," Raiders head coach Jim Toman said.
