SMYRNA -- The Stewarts Creek Lady Red Hawks softball team held on for a 1-0 win over the Smyrna Bulldogs on Friday evening in the first round of the District 7-AAA tournament at Stewarts Creek.
It was a strong defensive showing by both teams, highlighted by Lady Red Hawks pitcher Kendall Mills, who had a no hitter going into the seventh inning.
"My rise ball was working pretty good," Mills said. "My screw (ball) started working really good and my defense behind me was pretty good too."
In the bottom of the first inning, left fielder Ariel McAtee was walked and a wild pitch sent her to second.
