TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Middle Tennessee softball claimed their first NCAA Tournament win in program history on Friday afternoon, run-ruling Central Arkansas 8-0 in five innings at Roads Stadium on the campus of the University of Alabama.
The Blue Raiders (40-18) exploded in the top of the fifth, scoring seven runs while batting around the order, scoring five of those seven runs with the bases loaded. Gretchen Mead kept the Bears (44-11) in check in the circle, scattering four hits across her five innings of work while striking out two UCA batters.
Six different Blue Raiders drove in runs on Friday, led by two RBIs from both Laura Mealer and Savannah Behabetz.
