MURFREESBORO, Tenn.— A pair of early home runs by the Liberty Flames (25-16, 14-3) proved to be too much for Middle Tennessee State (18-26, 5-12) to overcome as the Blue Raiders dropped the second game of a three-game set 5-1.
Liberty's Megan Fortner and Raigan Barrett provided the first three runs of the game via the long ball in the first two innings. Middle Tennessee got on the board in the bottom of the third after a bunt single by scored
from third to make it a 3-1 game.
Both starters settled in throughout the middle innings, with MTSU's tossing five innings on Saturday following three innings in relief in last night's game, keeping Liberty off the board in the third, fourth and fifth innings.
