BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The rivalry between Middle Tennessee and WKU turned into an offensive bonanza, but the Lady Raiders' best offensive performance of the season was not enough in a 97-93 overtime loss here Saturday afternoon.
Middle Tennessee (20-6, 12-4) shot a sizzling 53 percent (16-of-30) from 3-point range and posted season highs for points and 3-pointers in the gut-wrenching loss. The Lady Raiders led by 16, 66-50 with 8:19 remaining and owned an 83-71 advantage with 2:27 remaining; however, they weren't able to protect the lead down the stretch.
WKU (18-9, 11-5) hit 10 consecutive field goals and used a 10-0 run over the final 2:10 of regulation to force overtime, and it never trailed in the extra period.
