BRONX, N.Y. – Fordham's long-range shooting was too much to overcome as Middle Tennessee (9-4) fell to the host squad, 61-49, in the Fordham Holiday Classic here Saturday.
The loss overshadowed another stellar performance by A'Queen Hayes, who poured in a game-high 21 points to go with seven rebounds, four assists and a steal to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team.
Freshman Taylor Sutton added 12 points and Alex Johnson finished with nine to pace the Lady Raiders.
The game was nip-and-tuck throughout until Fordham (9-5) finally took control in the final three minutes due in large part to a barrage of 3-point field goals.
