NORFOLK, Va. – Alex Johnson and Taylor Sutton combined for 42 points but it wasn't enough as Middle Tennessee dropped a tough 70-65 decision against Old Dominion here Saturday.
The Lady Raiders (18-6, 9-2) led 13-12 following a Sutton jumper with 3:06 remaining in the first quarter but it proved to be the last time they would lead in the contest as Old Dominion (17-7, 8-4) seized momentum early in the second quarter.
For the most part, the game was within two possessions for the duration. Middle Tennessee was only down 42-41 after a pair of Sutton free throws with 3:26 remaining in the third quarter, but Old Dominion finished the quarter on a 10-2 run to push the advantage back to nine, 52-43.
