Lady Raiders defensively dominated Tigers, 67-47, to open 2023-24 season

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee women's basketball program never let their opponent have a chance on Monday night, stifling visiting Memphis to just 47 points in a 67-47 victory to open the 2023-24 season at the Murphy Center on Monday evening.

The Lady Raiders (1-0) held the Tigers (0-1) to just 19-for-71 (26.8 percent) from the field, scoring 25 points off of 20 Tiger turnovers to power their way past the American Athletic Conference foe. MTSU got to the free throw line 27 times of Monday, draining 24 of those attempts, compared to a 5-for-11 effort from the charity stripe for Memphis

MTSU jumped out to a fast start on Monday, leading 13-4 at the first media timeout on the way to a 25-11 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
