Lady Raider comeback bid falls just short

EL PASO, Texas – Middle Tennessee fought valiantly during a gutsy fourth-quarter comeback, but two potential game-winning shots fell short in the final seconds in a 56-55 setback at UTEP here Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Raiders (9-3, 1-1) were down 11 in the third quarter but battled back to take the lead midway through the fourth quarter to set the stage for a riveting finish.

Dor Saar led the Middle Tennessee comeback and finished with a game-high 17 points, while freshman standout Jalynn Gregory tallied 16 points. Alexis Whittington had another solid all-around game, stuffing the stat sheet with six points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals.
