MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — With a roster filled with new faces, Nick McDevitt went into his second season as Middle Tennessee's head coach with a couple of defined leaders, but he was searching for more.
It was almost like he needed a quarterback on the floor. Luckily, he had one in sophomore Jayce Johnson.
Before committing to the Blue Raiders in 2018 to play basketball, Johnson was signed to play QB at Wagner College in Staten Island, New York. The Seahawks thought in February they'd signed a versatile, tough signal caller who could do a little bit of everything after he threw for 1,764 yards and 18 touchdowns and ran for 713 yards and 15 touchdowns his senior year at Canisius High School in Buffalo, New York.
