Temperatures and the heat index are rising every day in Rutherford County, but nevertheless it's almost time for high school football.
With that in mind, practice officially begins today for all nine county teams who will go through drills in shorts and helmets. Additionally, most teams will also be participating in 7-on-7 passing tournaments.
Oakland, which went to the state semifinals before losing to Maryville last year, will compete in three different tournaments.
"We're going to hit the ground running at 7 o'clock Monday morning," said Oakland coach Kevin Creasy. "We'll do that all week long and get ready for the 7-on-7 tournaments.
