Franklin an excellent, popular choice for MTSU football

MTSU's coaching staff will feature a familiar and popular face next season with the hiring of new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Tony Franklin.

Blue Raiders coach Rick Stockstill announced Franklin's hiring on Friday after Buster Faulkner took the same position recently at Arkansas State.

Franklin was MTSU's offensive coordinator in 2009 when the Blue Raiders post their best season in the FBS at 10-3. MTSU averaged 32 points a game and 421 yards in total offense. It also was the best season former quarterback Dwight Dasher enjoyed during his career as he rushed for more than 1,100 yards and threw for more than 2,700 and 23 touchdowns.
