More than 4,000 athletes will be in Murfreesboro and Rutherford County this week for the annual BlueCross Spring Fling.
Champions will be crowned in baseball, softball, tennis, soccer and track and field.
All county high schools will host baseball, while the softball will be played at Sports Com, the soccer at the Richard Siegel Complex and the tennis at the new facility at Old Fort.
Eight teams -- Siegel baseball, Stewarts Creek baseball, Central Magnet baseball, Siegel softball, Stewarts Creek softball, Oakland soccer, Central Magnet soccer and MTCS girls tennis -- will represent Rutherford County.
Siegel baseball earned its first-ever trip in dramatic fashion when junior first baseman Ryker Kristinus blasted a lead-off solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Stars a 2-1 victory over Rhea County.
