MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — After a dominant first week at the plate in her senior season, Middle Tennessee's Lexi Cushing has earned her first career Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week honor, the TSWA announced Tuesday.
The Flower Mound, Texas native batted .556 (10-for-18) from the plate with three home runs — all leadoff homers. Cushing earned a hit in all six of MT's games this weekend in the Titan Classic, including a 3-for-3 performance against San Jose State, who entered the year receiving votes in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches poll.
Already MT's all-time home runs leader, Cushing slugged career homer No.
