Coaches finding ways to connect with international athletes

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — As the world started to shift into a new norm caused by the coronavirus pandemic, countries began taking different actions to combat the virus.

With international student-athletes hailing from more than 20 different countries and five continents, that meant Middle Tennessee had to quickly get to work to make sure all of them were where they needed to be and safe.

"Once we kind of checked all the boxes with international admissions and making sure their visas were all set, we got them headed off," said head men's tennis coach Jimmy Borendame, who coaches players from England, Australia, Denmark, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Germany and Portugal, as well as America.
