Central Magnet's baseball team is in a familiar position as District 8-AA champions.
In a game resumed in the bottom of the first inning from Friday night when the rains came, the Tigers took the lead for good after trailing 2-1 and then rode the arm of Wes Duffield for a 5-4 victory over Smith County at Star*Plex. It was the fourth title in the last five years for the Tigers.
Duffield went the distance and retired 13 of the last 15 batters he faced.
"We had a good, close game," said Central coach Jason Patterson. "I think the weather last night had a lot to do with the pitching.
