WEST POINT, Miss. – Marcus Byrd captured his second individual championship of the spring with a record-tying performance at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship here Tuesday.
Byrd's strong play, coupled with that of junior Tanner Owens (3-under, T13), enabled the Blue Raiders to turn in a team-total 9-under 855 to finish sixth overall, behind Louisiana-Monroe (18-under), Ole Miss (17-under), No. 4 Vanderbilt (15-under), Little Rock (14-under) and Mississippi State (13-under).
Not only did Byrd's 13-under 203 enable him to win medalist honors, but it also tied for the best three-round total in school history.
