MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee won a weather-shortened affair over the fifteenth-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores by a score of 4-3.
In the top of the eighth, Vanderbilt's Alonzo Jones hit a grand slam on a full count pitch with two men out in the top, propelling Vanderbilt to a 7-4 lead, just prior to a lightning delay.
However, because of the delay, MT was unable to hit in the bottom of the frame, reverting the score back to the previous frame and marking the official ending of the game.
The win snapped a three-game skid against the Commodores and marked the first win over the in-state foe since 2016.
