MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee baseball fell 11-6 to Liberty on Friday in the series opener at Reese Smith Jr Field. led the Blue Raiders (9-11, 1-3 Conference USA) with a two-homer game.
After a two-run first inning, settled into the start only allowing one run to score the next four innings.
After home runs from in the fourth and Rutter in the fifth, the game was tied at four heading into the sixth. It was until a seven run seventh inning the Flames took the lead and never looked back.
MTSU tried to fight back, sending out three home runs as and Rutter went back-to-back in the seventh and led off the ninth with a solo blast, but the Flames' lead held.
