MARTIN, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee dropped the opening game to UT Martin 14-2 on Friday afternoon.
The Skyhawks (5-5) struck first in the opening frame thanks to a pair of two-out hits. The Blue Raiders (3-6) responded in the second inning with a Trace Phillips solo shot to right field to tie things up at one-run apiece.
After plating a run in the third, UT Martin exploded for five runs in the fourth to take an 8-1 lead over MTSU. The Skyhawks would go on to win 14-2.
