MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee baseball dueled on the mound early, but couldn't come up with enough hits of their own on Tuesday afternoon at Reese Smith Jr. Field, falling to visiting Lipscomb 7-3.
The Blue Raiders (3-5) struck first in the bottom of the first inning, when Luke Vinson scored on a skipped throw from third to first that allowed Briggs Rutter to reach safely. That one-run lead held for four frames, as James Sells threw four scoreless, no-hit innings to start the game.
The Bisons (3-5) would find their offense in the top of the fifth however, with Sells giving up a solo-home run to the first batter in the frame and later a sacrifice fly to allow Lipscomb to take the lead at the halfway point.
