The marquee matchup between the top two girls teams in the state and the game lived up to every bit of the hype as No. 1 Blackman (20-2,7-0) edged No. 2 Riverdale (19-2,5-2) for the second straight time, 71-69, on Monday night at Riverdale.
Blackman stayed atop the District 7-AAA standings as it improved to 20-2 overall and 7-0 in league play. Riverdale fell to 19-2 and 5-2.
The game came literally down to the last second, as the Riverdale tied it at 69 with five seconds left on an Anastasia Hayes layup. The gym erupted as the gym erupted and the game seemed to be going to overtime.
