LA VERGNE -- The Blackman Blaze (29-0) remained unbeaten and were crowned District 7-AAA champs Tuesday night in as they defeated the Oakland Patriots 59-51.
"The game had typical district championship flavor," Blackman head coach and district 7-AAA coach of the year Barry Wortman said. "It was two championship caliber teams both playing with a purpose."
Blackman encountered a hungry Oakland team carrying loads of momentum from their exciting overtime win against La Vergne over the weekend and a team that only lost to three teams all year, twice to the Blaze.
"It's tough to beat a team like Oakland three times," Wortman added.
