A win in its home opener for the Akron Zips was important, especially after having a week to think about what transpired against the Penn State Nittany Lions in week one.
Akron, carved up by Heisman Trophy candidate running back Saquon Barkley, needed a rebound at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field to not only maintained the confidence that wasn’t flattened in Happy Valley, but to have the chances of winning the Mid-American Conference East Division continue to be a possibility.
